A benefit art event for the people of Ukraine

Pavuk (Eng. - Spider) is a collective art installation and durational performance built around the creation of a traditional Ukrainian Pavuk — a suspended straw structure symbolizing cosmic balance, protection, and the interconnectedness of human life.

Fifteen artists from  around the globe will each create one geometric element of the Pavuk and send their completed piece to Los Angeles, where it will be assembled into a single monumental installation.

During the installation, the exhibition space will continuously screen video documentation of the participating artists creating their individual Pavuk elements, allowing visitors to witness the distributed, transnational process behind the final assembled work.

The exhibition will be accompanied by a durational performance by Alina Kalinouskaya, who will remain suspended in ropes for the entire day, becoming a living axis within the installation. The performance will be supported by live music performed by Lali Little, a singer and songwriter who has composed a song dedicated to the people of Ukraine, performed live on guitar throughout the day.

The project is presented in solidarity with the people of Ukraine, and specifically with:

• victims of the Russian invasion of Ukraine

• individuals subjected to political repression for protesting the war and invasion

The installation is conceived as both a memorial and an urgent reminder to American audiences of the ongoing humanitarian and political crisis.

During the performance, visitors will be encouraged to donate directly to the Prytula Foundation, specifically supporting its Emergency Response Program “Light of Ukrainian Hope”, which provides generators to communities where access to electricity has become a matter of survival. In addition, proceeds from the sale of project-related NFTs will be donated to the same program.

The project is curated by Michael J. Masucci and supported by Yara Agency.
